Parliamentary Committee Training

Presenting isn’t something that comes naturally to all of us, often our nerves can prevent us from being at our best. This can especially be the case when we find ourselves in front of an unfamiliar environment particularly one in which we perceive our audience to be powerful and significant.

Together with Audit Scotland we developed this highly interactive course, called “Thinking On Your Feet” which uses real reports and actual footage from parliamentary and local government committees.

Participants are exposed to the next best thing to the real event; whilst keeping the learning environment a safe place to make mistakes and to learn from each other, participants do feel the heat. In fact the daylong session is more of a “Dress rehearsal” which prepares the participants for attendance at any public committee.

Since developing the course, we have provided support to Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland (HMICS) and Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC) as well as continuing to work with Audit Scotland.
